| With four Best Of Show Awards, numerous honors & distinctions, over a dozen one-woman shows and group exhibits too numerous to mention, Susan Simon continues to paint, teach, bead, and play her wooden flute. She holds a Masters of Fine Arts degree and divides
her time between Colorado, Iowa and New Zealand.Although inspiration comes from far and wide, Light, Nature, and the Ancients are the strongest concerns in Susan Simon's work. For many years she has been deeply interested in the play of light, shapes and patterns in nature, and the spiritual/decorative elements of the First Nations. These concerns, coupled with the themes of Solitude, Journeys, and Celebrations of the small and ordinary are hallmarks of her award-winning work. The theme of Journey, in both the Pathfinder and Storyteller series, is Susan's highly unique visual poem. It expresses the importance for the all of us to find our way and tell our own story. The ALL of us - Stone, Tree, Child. Even the fallen Leaf. |
